Exceptional coffees, every day
Your specialty coffee
It's possible to enjoy excellent coffee every day without breaking the bank. That's precisely why we exist at The Stray Bean Roastery.
This is not a given. All the coffees we select and roast are specialty coffees, meaning they are at the top of the quality scale. Yet, specialty coffees are estimated to represent less than 5% of the global market. Among the remaining 95%, there are certainly differences in quality, but overall, the vast majority of coffee consumed worldwide is sold as a commodity, its unique characteristics flattened and the notion of quality reduced to the bare minimum.
At the other end of the spectrum, there are exceptional coffee houses that offer the equivalent of three-Michelin-starred coffees. Starting with the most exceptional, sometimes extremely rare, varieties, there are no limits to the time, effort, and expertise that can be invested in the numerous processes that transform the coffee cherry picked from the tree into the beverage in your cup. It's fascinating, and we love discovering all that can be done to produce truly incredible coffee, but not everyone is willing to spend up to €300 (or even more!) on a kilo of beans for their daily cup.
Excellent coffee doesn't have to be a luxury product. It's simply the result when everyone involved in the life cycle of a coffee bean takes what they do to heart.
Taste the difference!
It all begins with farmers committed to cultivating and harvesting coffee cherries using sustainable agro-environmental practices, which not only benefit the planet but also produce high-quality coffee. Next comes the careful processing of the cherries, as well as the extraction, washing, and drying of the beans—the latter being a process that can take several weeks and requires constant management to be carried out successfully.
Then it's up to us, the roasters, to take the time to select the right beans from the right plantations and find the roasting profile that will reveal their full potential. Every coffee is different; that's why a careful roaster will ensure that the roasting profile is adapted to each one, as well as to how it will be served – as an espresso with or without milk, or as black filter coffee, for example.
That is our priority. We know that if we pay attention to everything that happens to the bean, from the plantation to the cup, we can then offer you excellent coffees that you can enjoy every day.
You don't need to be an obsessive connoisseur to appreciate it: you just need to taste the difference!
